"No Soliciting" signs -- do they work?
Do salespeople stop knocking? Can you get money from them if they solicit despite signage? |
I had one 10 years ago, and it worked surprisingly well. Went from frequent sales people knocking to almost none. I strongly doubt there would be a penalty for ignoring the sign. |
|
I don't have one but one of my neighbors do.
I never get unwanted salesmen or whatever. Seems silly to me. |
| I live in an apartment and don't need one but when I get a house I will get one because a friend of mine swears by them he says NO one comes by anymore! So I hear they work well. Try it op. Friends got them from home depot. |

I keep trying; moving my no soliciting sign into the center of a wreath so it’s eye level, moving adjacent to Ring doorbell, all to no avail.
I simply don’t answer my door, even if I’m at home, but still the door to door salespeople continue; roofers, window replacement, pest control, political canvassers, fake magazine sellers, Jehovah’s Witnesses, steak and meat on a truck… |

Yes they work.
No you don’t get money if someone ignores it, you do get to point to the sign and shut the door though.. |
Get a bigger one. |
| I never answer my door unless I know the person so they can knock if they like. I assume 99% of people are the same. |
| They work for 95% of the solicitors. Every now and then one will either not see it, or they don’t know what the word soliciting means so they still knock. |

It works. Per Ffx Co website:
"Soliciting is the sale of goods or services door-to-door or from a temporary stand and is regulated by Fairfax County Code. Fairfax County requires peddlers and solicitors be licensed before they solicit door to door. They may solicit only between 9 a.m. and 8 p.m., and may not solicit at a residence which posts a "No Peddlers or Solicitors" sign." |
| I have heard they work but I wish they included a caveat like No soliciting except for Girl Scout cookies, etc. Because they will also keep out anyone you might be ok with knocking. |
No but I find adding some gun decals and an NRA sticker puts an end to the nonsense |
| No. |
|
Yes, for the most part. You get the odd few who ignore it. One time a guy rang the bell trying to sell something. I pointed to the No Soliciting sign, and he smiled and said, "Yea, I saw it". Um.. that's not going to make me want to buy from you.
It stopped all the religious people. |
