Chipmunks in my yard

Anonymous
Found a bunch of burrows and seen 2 varmints. Are the important to remove? They are so cute and holes are not in areas we really use much.

I have chipmunks and my indoor cats love to watch them through the windows. I put out tick tubes twice a year, so their nests/burrows are tick free.

They're an important part of the ecosystem/food chain. Why remove if no problem? I've never noticed any trouble from our chimpunks.

They are not cute- they can be very destructive. They built so many tunnels under my neighbor’s driveway that they got big cracks in the concrete.

Well they’re in an area we only use as the edges of the yard.

Any threat to a house/foundation?

We have them in our oak trees. They don’t bother us and we don’t bother them.

Only very rarely are they a risk to a house, driveway, or foundation. I won’t say never, but its really quite rare.
