Schools in pentagon city

My self and my Elementary School age children will be moving to the pentagon city area this summer. I see the schools in the area looked to be Oak Ridge or Long branch. Is there a school that would be more recommended than the other?

Hoffman Boston also serves the Pentagon City/Crystal City area, yes?
Any of them would be fine. Many at Hoffman Boston were at Oakridge prior to the most recent boundary shift.

I suggest you search the forum for discussions about Oakridge.

I think you should consider schools in UA.

The neighborhoods around Fleet ES and Long Branch ES are very close to Pentagon City, just a two minute drive down Washington Blvd (Rt 27). Oakridge and Hoffman Boston are the closest schools in terms of distance. I’d look at those four is you wanted to minimize travel distance to Pentagon City. But there are many other options throughout Arlington if you wanted to extend your search. It’s a small county.

I would target fleet or long branch.

If working in Pentagon City then one can commute via Metro pretty easily. That would open up a lot of good neighborhoods along the Orange / Silver line.

Why are people trying to persuade OP away from Pentagon City and the nearby schools? OP stated they are moving to the Pentagon City area. Sounds like they've decided on area and just want to know about the associated schools. Which are not bad schools, btw. I can only assume you are an anti-south Arlington snob or are just trying to rile up an irrelevant conversation.

Not irrelevant. Some of us have figured out how to use Metro to commute to Pentagon and Pentagon City. Enables a wider range of choices for OP.

OP wasn't asking for wider choices.

I've lived in Aurora Highlands adjacent to Pentagon City for 20 years. Love the neighborhood - it is walkable, lots of grocery stores, restuarants, shopping and metro within a block or two. My kids went to Oakridge for elementary and we were very happy with it. We met so many other kids who lived close by because we went to the neighborhood school.

Oakridge is fine. The community is great and so are the teachers. I do wish it was more academic, but it’s not as awful as dcum would you think. I think having more active parents would definitely make the school better.

If you're moving into a place in Pentagon City itself, the zoned elementary school is Hoffman-Boston, and you're past the spring lottery dates to have any choice for 2024-2025. If you have the ability to expand your search for housing, there are other nearby options.

Plug addresses in here, and it'll tell you your zoned school at each level:

Hoffman Boston is a great school! My kids went there and we loved the caring teachers, very diverse community, and good academics (though don't really have experience with other schools to compare).
