| My DC is graduating next year and has asked for years to go to Greece, specifically Santorini. We'd like to take them next summer after graduation, probably in late June 2025. When is the best time to book that trip? I never book more than 5 months out, but I usually let deals point me in the direction to go. |
| Book through Costco 6-9 months in advance. |
| There are no deals during summer. Book far out. |
Why do you never book more than 5 months out? |
I just don’t plan that far ahead. We usually have a lot of moving pieces and it’s hard to lock in. Once DC has graduated, it gets easier and this trip would trump other things. |

Santorini is really overpriced and they screw over tourists with restaurant scams.
Have you considered a cruise? You’ll be able to see more of Greece that way. There’s a greek cruise line called Celestyal (I think) or you could try Royal Caribbean or Celebrity. Regardless, start researching flights and hotels now. Summer is super crowded. |
| If booking flights rather than a package, airlines vary regarding how far in advance they release flights. Some are about 330 days in advance. |
| I would look around November, although sometimes the smaller hotels shut down in the winter and you need to wait until March. |
| October onwards. |
I have done a cruise like this and in OP's situation, I wouldn't do it. If her DC wants to see Santorini it is probably best early in the day and in the evening, when the cruise crowds have dispersed, so staying there is necessary. |
| I never plan that far ahead. I just booked my flight to Europe yesterday for traveling in mid July for two weeks. Got a decent deal on United Premium Plus seats for two. |
What's a decent deal? |
$1100 each, but this is a multi city trip and we have lots of flexibility with dates. Took a while of playing around with dates and cities to find something. |
| OP here - Thanks! I haven't started really researching, but I'm assuming it will be multi-city. I've actually considered contacting a travel agent to put together an itinerary, but I usually book everything myself. I'll start putting it together this fall. |
