| Any recommendations on good-quality toddler group music classes? My toddler seems to have caught the violin bug from me (he "plays" all day, including apparently at daycare), but is not ready to begin violin lessons. Looking for something to keep up the enthusiasm until he can begin private lessons. I'd especially like to find a program that develops rhythm and general listening skills. If it incorporates violin somehow that's ideal, but percussion, clapping, singing, etc. is also good. |
| Tots with Tempo in Alexandria is great. |
| Levine School of music group classes for toddlers/preschoolers |
| We loved Music Together |
Suzuki violin starts at age 3 |
My daughter ( 21 months) loves tunes4tots. Definitely not comparable to violin lessons but she asks all week for " music class" |

Music Together!
Did it for years with both my children. Where are you located? |
| OP here. We’re located in Alexandria. Thanks for the excellent suggestions—my wife and I are looking into these and we plan to enroll our toddler in one of the summer sessions! |
| How old is he? |
| 2 yrs. He’s shown some promise on violin (relatively good hand position that he’s picked up from observing me), and on his drum he’s very careful and experiments with trying to produce a better tone rather than just randomly hitting it. But it’s also clear to me that a general group toddler music class is appropriate for his current level of maturity and private violin lessons aren’t appropriate yet. Maintain the enthusiasm and hold back on formal instruction until he will respond well to it. |
