The first couple pairs of Bombas socks I got -- ankle length, no special features -- a couple years ago now all have holes in the heel area. Would you contact them for replacements (their happyiness guarantee) or is this the typical lifespan of a sock? I don't know that any other socks i have have lasted this little time. I'm not wearing them more often or doing anything different. |
Maybe you tug on the heel to get them on? Are they compression?
I think 2 years is acceptable but you can always try for recompense. |
I like Darn Tough socks better. Have only gotten holes in the toes, not heels, and they replace them. |
I prefer BOLEGA socks. |
I will admit that multiple years of wear seems to be pretty good considering how hard our feet work. But I’ve also never purchased bombas bc I think they are too expensive. It is, after all, just some cotton/spandex in your feet.

I think two years is a pretty long time!
I also favor Balegas, FWIW. |
I do not care about their policy.... There is not way I would contact a company to replace a pair of socks after two years. |
I have returned about 6/7 pair so far and gotten free replacements. I am very rough on socks (my big toenail grows kind of up instead of forward) so I get holes easily. But the socks themselves lasted 5+ years before I even had to send for a replacement. They really are made well. |
Good for you, I guess? |
There was just a thread in bombas wearing out early.
I think socks should last more than two years (unless maybe you were wearing the same socks every day?) so if I had time on my hands I’d contact them but not sure I’d want to deal with it. |
2 years? No. What do you think they have a lifetime guarantee. Of course socks will wear out. |
I do think 2 years is a shorter lifespan than most of the higher quality socks I buy -- the Darn Tough and Smartwool socks I have generally last 8-10 years before I start to see holes.
However, I got a few pairs of Bombas last year as gifts and I have to say -- they are the most comfortable socks I own. But this is partly because they are so soft. I also love how they are designed to hug your arch -- it's so satisfying to pull them on. But I also think that softness likely makes them more susceptible to getting holes. The Smartwool/Darn Tough socks I have aren't like scratchy or anything, but the material is not as downy and they feel like a heavier, more durable sock. So if my Bombas wear out in 2 years, I wouldn't be shocked. I'd still buy them again. They really do live up to their rep as incredibly comfortable and pleasurable socks! |
My puma socks from Costco last way longer than that.
My kids seem to wear holes in Nike socks by looking at them. |
I returned one pair which sported huge holes in the heel after about 4-6 months.
It sounds like this is literally their Achilles heel as it's both my husband's and son's socks. Hadn't occurred to me to return. These are the Merino quarter socks |
I mean, it hadn't occurred to me to return after 2 years. |
