Is this a real name?
Just saw it on an older white woman on a GMA segment (“the ultimate school project”). Is it pronounced Alex? Uh-licks-see? Is it an ethnic name or just kreative spelling? Fwiw, the woman looked like she was north of 50. |
| It should be Alix (no e) and pronounced Ah-leeks. It's a very old traditional French name (one of Eleanor of Aquitaine's daughters by the king of France was Alix). It's sometimes short for Alexandra (like the last tsarina of Russia was Alexandra/Alix for nn). |
| I knew a female Alix, short for Alexandra. |
| so extra |
| Also never seen it with an E at the end, but the people I know pronounce it Ah-LEES. Emphasis on the second syllable, X pronounced more like an S. |
| I've heard of the name Alix but spelled like that I would assume it was Alexei spelled wrong. |
Right? How dare someone use a name in their own language. |
