| Read several nonfiction books on the Civil War in past few years. Interested if anyone has any good historical fiction recs? |
| The Killer Angels by Michael Shaara. It’s a classic novel about the Battle of Gettysburg. |
|
Paulette Jiles has written a few novels set around the civil war or shortly afterward. Her most well known book is "News of the World", which was made into a movie starring Tom Hanks. I have liked all of her books.
|
| Cold Mountain - It is a retelling of the Odyssey set during the Civil War. |
| “Jubilee” by Margaret Walker. A classic. |

+100 for Michael Shaara's The Killer Angels. It's the best in the genre, IMO.
Check out also Gods and Generals, and The Last Full Measure, by Michael's son Jeff Shaara, also about the Civil War. They are great books in their own right. He definitely shares his father's talent. |

March by Geraldine Brooks is terrific.

| Thanks for the recs! |
| Gore Vidal, Lincoln |
| Pulitzer Prize winner Master Slave, Husband Wife. Enthralling and I learned so much. |
| I apologize I thought you wanted nonfiction. Above is not fiction. |
