How long does a blowout last?

Anonymous
I wear my hair in a chin-length bob. I don't blow it dry myself ever. Air-drying works fine for normal circumstances, but I am going to be the mother of the groom next month, so I thought I should up my game. If I get a blow-out on Friday, will it still look OK for the wedding on Saturday? Would it look a lot better if I waited until Saturday to get the blowout? Is there anything that I could do to preserve it if I get the blowout on Friday?

It def lasts a day or two!

It varies very much from person to person, but for a big event like this you should get the blowout the day of.

For me it lasts for like 12 hours. I have very thin, oily hair.

You should try and get it the day off.

My blowout can last for like five days! But they don’t because I usually exercise but certainly would last from the Friday to a Saturday like you need.

I got a blowout today Wednesday. Itlll be fine for Thursday and Friday. Saturday I’ll put it in a high ponytail. Sleep on a silk pillowcase to preserve. Do it Friday- you’ll have enough to do Saturday.

For an event like that, definitely morning of.

+1. I have fine oily hair and there is no way I would bank on it looking decent the next day.

For those with thick and less oily hair they can last much longer.

How often do you typically need to wash your hair for it to look good?

3 days for me with 4th being a pony tail day. I do use dry shampoo on day 3 and wash on the evening of day 4.

Yep. Depending on weather it can be a lank mess by the time I get home from the salon. My friend with coarse hair goes 5 days.

I’d get a blow out asap so you can judge how long it will last for you.

Likely you have a rehearsal dinner Friday night, right? I’d get the blow out Friday mid day and I’d be fine for Fri night dinner and Saturday wedding. If it looked at all flat on Saturday I’d spray some Living Proof dry shampoo on it and give a quick blast with a blow dryer with my head upside down.

My hair is shoulder length, so to preserve a blow out I put it in a low, loose pony tail with a silk scrunchie before going to bed.

OP are you talking about a day with humidity or rain?

I would need to do it the day of the event.

My hair is think and curly. Barring rain or excessive sweat I can do 5+ days - but for a wedding would probably do day before if I wanted rehearsal dinner mileage, day of if I wanted it looking the absolute best.
