| Give only what you are comfortable with. The amounts people post here can sometimes seem very excessive. I only give to family unless we are invited to a party and then I’d probably give $50 unless they had given a more generous gift to my child for graduation. A few years ago I gave my oldest nephew $100 while my sister who is far wealthier gave my oldest $0. I told myself it was probably an oversight. We both have second-borns the same age so when their HS graduation rolled around I decided to wait to see what she gave mine. She gave my 2nd born $50. I am now just giving $50. If we were wealthier I might give more but we are very middle class (no money for vacations and 2 kids at state U). |
