DD's 9 yr birthday party menu:
Cheese pizza and we will have a separate medium gluten free and dairy free too Chips/Pretzels individual packs Juice individual packs Cupcakes Fruit tray 20 kids are to attend. We don't want to offer meat. Would that be sufficient? DD wants cupcakes and doesn't want birthday cake. I have never seen a birthday party without cake cutting. Is that okay? All her prior birthdays were in smaller groups - 5/6 girls at a time whom has been best friends with since kindergarten. This is the first time we have a group of 20 kids. Hence, asking for opinions. |

Menu is fine, kids don’t care about cake cutting, but you can do what I do, which is in addition to the cupcakes you also get a cute, small cake (6”) and that’s where you put the candle, plus it’s extra/backup in case anyone wants seconds.
Will adults be staying or just the kids? I usually provide food for adults, like a charcuterie board. |
Parents don’t stay for a 9 year old’s birthday party. I agree the food is fine. |

OP here. Some parents will stay and some will drop the kids off. I am planning to have enough food and am going to offer parents too. But it will be the same food. We will have coke/soda too as drinks for adults. Pizza will still be cheese pizza.
I like that small cake idea! |
| I’d add a veggie plate and water. |
Parents at our parties did. |
Water, yes, we will have. I had not thought about veggie platter. We will certainly add that! |
| You don’t need the vegetable tray. You have the fruit tray. |
|
I don’t think anyone cares about a cake cutting. Light a candle and sing.
No meat needed. |
+1. What you already listed is perfect, OP. |
| We had a popcorn station with a few different flavors and toppings. That was popular. |
This. You've never seen a party without cake cutting?? It's very normal to blow out candles on cupcakes. |

I never served kids soda and no one else did, either. Maybe juice boxes (real juice, not that Capri crap). Water is perfectly fine.
Happy birthday! |
| Include water and it’s fine. |
Soda for adults I meant. Kids will have honest juice packs. Thanks all. |
