Nutritionist to work with college student

Anonymous
Seeking recommendations for a nutritionist who would be a good fit for a rising college sophomore who has gained 30-40 lbs from being sedentary and eating unhealthy food. Male, former athlete, says he wants to make changes to regain health and fitness, but struggles to do so. Ideally in NW DC or Bethesda.

Cut back on the beer, late night snacking, and midnight pizza.

I’ll send you an invoice

OP, I'm sorry, no suggestions, but look for a registered dietician. Anyone can call themselves a nutritionist without training/credentials.

40lbs in 9 months? I would start with a regular doctor first, get thyroid and basic blood work first to know what you are dealing with.

That is almost a pound a week for 2 semesters.

I agree with looking for a dietician. You might also consider having him start Noom, as it provides a lot of good information about nutrition, weight loss, mindful eating, the value of protein and fiber, etc. -- good for a kid who may not know a lot about food. Tracking what he eats will help him understand the "value" of certain foods over others.
