I will warn you that if things are so challenging now, this may not be a relationship that will go the distance. If you do not have kids together, really consider the likelihood of success. Life throws a lot of curveballs and challenges that we cannot control and that challenge even the most stable of unions.

Gottman relationship therapy is evidence based. Look on their website for a list of providers and for helpful quizzes and relationship advice. I also know many who have found Catholic pre-marriage classes helpful in lending perspective.

OP here, sorry it's MD but can do DC too.

I appreciate the concern but it's just a complex situation that brings up many feelings and we want to be clear with each other. It's a good thing.

Many psychologists (phds and psyds) are now psypact approved, which allows them to work with people in most states. Other degrees don't yet have that ability.
