Rectial makeup, help

This is DD's first rectial. And, I am told that I need to apply red lipstick, blush, eye shadow etc on her or else I can't see her due to bright light from the stage. I don't wear makeup, please help and send me purchase link from amazon or target. The dress is sparkling with rainbow color, and we are light skin tone.

What? How old is she? I would decline. The dress is fine but no need for makeup.

I hear you, I struggle with this too. First off though, how old is she? When my DD was 4, for instance, I didn't do any recital makeup. They said it was optional, I opted out. She was so young and she didn't care, I personally don't care if she looks washed out on stage at that age, and I think it would have been a pain to apply. She looked cute in photos.

At 5, I did zero foundation, but did do a little bit of red lipstick and blush. I actually just used the lipstick as blush. It's different than putting makeup on an adult, your goal is not to accentuate anything, you are just making their lips and cheeks more visible under stage lights. I think I also offered mascara for the same reason but she didn't want it and I didn't push.

Search “Revlon Eyes, Cheeks + Lips Pallet” at Amazon ( you should be able to find at target, cvs or other supermarkets too), also get makeup remover to clean makeup afterwards. If your child’s too young you may want to avoid eyeshadow in case it irritates.

Stage makeup is reasonable for a young kid. It's totally different from wearing make up in regular situations. OP's kid's teacher is right that the light washes people out, so you want some definition. It has nothing to do with making the child look adult, or sexy, it's just making up for the lights so they look normal.

I did the same thing at that age, one time with cherry chapstick in a pinch because I couldn’t find the lipstick. Worked great.

If you do wind up using make up, have a plan for getting it off — not always the easiest with younger kids, especially after a long day! Mirceller water and cotton pads can help.

Op here. Every girls will apply stage makeup, we will do the same. I only want red lip stick, blush, hair spray and makeup remover. I don't know about eye makeup, it maybe too challenging for me to apply. I am also worried that she rubs her eyes. She is 5.

She is going to do dance for the next few years, but I will only apply makeup when she needs to get on stage.

You’ll be fine! Makeup absolutely makes a difference but lips plus blush will help a lot. Eye makeup is hard on that age, even if it’s just once or twice.

Remember, you want it to look clownish!

Red lipstick on a 5yo? I did dance and theater growing up so I understand stage makeup but… hard pass on that.
