| I will need to replace my roof soon and I’m curious if there are any types of roofing material that work best for reducing airplane noise and traffic noise? Can I cover my roof with a layer of mass laden vinyl before installing the roof shingles? Does anyone have experience with replacing a roof to make it more soundproof? |
| Can you try blown in installation for the attic |
I put 2-3 inches in the attic already, but it doesn’t help much. I don’t want to put anymore than this because I’m concerned the weight will be too much for the drywall. |
| I heard replacing windows help with noise. |
Already did this and bought special noise reducing windows. |
| What neighborhood? |
| Doubt it |
| I have no idea but can you put in mature trees? It costs more money to put in larger trees but that may help blocking some noise/ helping with pollution too. |
| Get a living roof. |
Won't work. Not dense enough to block sound. Though it may have a psychological effect. |
| What neighborhood? Is the noise new? |
It’s in the DC metro, there was some rezoning nearby so traffic has increased significantly |
| I am not aware of any rezoning that negatively affected DC. The traffic has increased significantly post pandemic. |
| It’s relayed to industrial rezoning approvals in It has added hundreds of daily trips with large commercial trucks to the road I live on. |
| Roofs have vents, noise gets in through them. |
