Electric scooter for a

My 14-year-old would like an electric scooter for his birthday. We would like one that would last him for at least 5 years. He doesn't need to go 50 mph but we want something that's not a toy and preferably under $800. Does anyone have any recommendations? We are leaning towards a Segway f or g series

Following, looking for something that does not require license and Insurance.

$800 won’t even get you a decent quality low-end eBike. A $800 electric scooter?

You must be high.

I'd re-think the wisdom of satisfying this request. Something which is "not a toy" is a motor vehicle, whether the motor is electric or gas, and carries with it all the risks of an underpowered motor vehicle with no safety features. Speeds lower than 50 mph offer no protection against being struck by much larger, heavier, and faster vehicles, or to crashing from a lack of skill, a lack of attention, or road surface conditions. The kind of protective equipment the rider may (or may not) wear is not going to offer much true protection against potential serious injury.

I'd look elsewhere for a gift - scuba or flying lessons, perhaps, if your son is adventurous.
