MAP-R 2nd grade

Anonymous
Does anybody know why some students took or are taking MAP-R in 2nd grade? I thought MAP-R testing started in 3rd grade, but apparently not for all.

That is very odd. I have never heard of that. What school, OP?

Yes, DD said it said NWEA MAP reading test on the screen. I agree it’s odd—no notice given.

Can someone share the link of each grade testing window? I don't even know if my 2nd grader has any more test by the end of this school year.

Might be MAP-P?

There were a few years that we would give some 2nd graders MAP-R if they scored out of MAP-RF (which we no longer give). I'm a school test coordinator and according to the manual for MAP, we no longer give it to any second graders. It could just be that the school is assuming that this is still a practice in place but they're using a student testing out of DIBELS as their reason for testing. I don't see anywhere in our guidance that we should be doing this any more.

Thanks for your response! Sounds like that might be what happened, as DD said it seemed to be the “role model” type of students who were the ones pulled out to take this test. Group was almost all girls.
