| I'm in D.C. and want to order an E-ZPass-compatible toll transponder for use in rental cars. The state sites I've seen want me to supply the license plate of the car I own or of the car I am renting, and I have neither at the moment. Is there a state from which I can get a transponder without supplying car information until I'm using it? Thanks for any tips. |
| Rental cars usually provide them and they bill it back to you |

Have you tried Maryland? You can register online at:
https://driveezmd.com I know they used to require a license plate number but when I requested a new transponder recently, I I didn't have to provide a plate number. The downside is that they charge $1.50 per month unless you used Maryland tolls a lot. |
