| My 14yo DD is desperate to find a part time job over the summer. I get the sense that lots of places do not employ teens that young - is that in fact the case? Would be grateful for any suggestions or pointers. I already know she can look for babysitting work. |

pet care or yard work/gardening/watering for neighbors who are out of town
some day camps may still be hiring CITs possibly tutoring, like reading and doing workbooks with ES age kids when parents don't want kids to lose skills over the summer informal coaching/lessons based on skills - soccer, basketball, skateboarding odd jobs - wash and vacuum cars, repair bikes, water plants, mend clothing, organize closets, simple painting |
So no food, retail or other outlets would employ a 14yo? |
Our pool employes 14y olds to be gate guards (check pool passes when guestes arrive.) |
| Too many restrictions for kids that age that companies won’t bother. |
| Green houses will sometimes hire that young. |

Babysitting or pet sitting/house sitting is likely her best bet.

| Arlington County has openings for Recreation Activities Assistants where the minimum age is 14 (It's on Indeed). I could've sworn that Fairfax County Rec Centers had posted jobs for assistants for adapted swim classes where 14 year olds could apply, but I can't find those anymore. |
| Does she play any sports? My son has had some success doing private soccer training and tennis lessons. He is generally good with younger kids. |
| Older teens have difficulty finding jobs, OP. If your kid finds something, just be grateful. |
Really? The camp where my son is a CIT (he is only 14) keeps sending out emails that they are desperately seeking counselors (must be at least 16). Or are you just referencing non-camp jobs? |
| Hostess at mom and pop restaurant. |
| She can work at the Watermine in Reston. They hire 14 year olds. |
