I suspect 12yo DD will be getting her first period soon and want to make sure we’re prepared. If you have a daughter around this age, what does she prefer to use? Any tips?
I’m roughly 10 years post-hysterectomy, so feeling a bit out of touch with what’s currently available. |
| Lots of girls wear the menstrual cup now or period panties. |
| My 18y.o started with pads but went pretty quickly to tampons (prefers the rounded plastic applicator) -- now talking about getting a Diva Cup. Get a variety of products to have on hand in her bathroom; if she doesn't use them, her friends will at some point. |

My kid likes these pads. They’re not huge like regular sized pads so they fit better for her. She’s tried some of the period underwear and occasionally uses them but still likes these pads the most.

Is there a preferred brand for the period panties? |
| The thinx teen period underwear is great. My kid usually wears them with a pad, but then isn’t worried about leakage or stains. And sometimes she will put a pad in the period underwear and then toss the pad midday at school and just wear the underwear. She prefers it to trying to carry around extra pads at school and making sure she has them when she gets a chance to use the restroom. |
Period company – they don’t have the toxic chemicals in them like Thinx. https://period.co/ |
