Proposal Writing vs Distribution and Logistics Internship

| DS was offered a summer internship at a smaller company as a distribution and logistics intern as well as a proposal writer intern role at a bigger health analytics company. He is torn as he is really unsure about what career he wants to pursue. He is a big people person so sales interests him but also is interested in project management and marketing. The proposal writer intern pays a few dollars more an hour and offers more flexible hours for him to continue his part time night job. Do you think either internship will really impact his future internship and job prospects? He is going into his junior year of college in a big city so he will have opportunities to intern at places in fall and spring as well if this doesn’t pan out. He is worried that the proposal writer internship won’t look great on his resume considering AI but parents friends have told him he can connect it to future marketing and project management internships he applied for as you are dealing with sales collateral and big management in the role. However, it is not like distribution and logistics is too hot of a attention grabber on a resume either. |

Writing is thinking, and vanishingly few people do it well. It is a legitimate skill that employers need and will continue to need (yes, even in an age of AI).
Writing proposals will hone that skill, and will force a precision of thought and of argument-building on paper, which will serve him well no matter what he does. Great options, though. Good for him. |
