Grocery Store Question - Giant

Anonymous
Recently I have noticed empty shelves in the frozen aisle where the sale tag indicated the item was deeply discounted - like 75% or more. More often than not I am too late despite going to the store often. I never see these sales in the weekly ad. Is there some trick to get in the know about them in advance?

Find the Giant where the freezer breaks and everything is hours from going bad

For Safeway, I use the app and it tells you about deals etc. Maybe giant has one also.

Giants app does not mention them. Only regular sale stuff.

There are weekly digital coupons on the app that you have to “clip” to your account to get some of these deals.

I think OP is talking about discontinued items where the discount is 50%-75% off. I've been seeing them more and more at my Giant as well, but they're usually gone from the shelf. OP, sometimes they'll pop up on the clearance rack in the back. We check it every time now.

I also check the clearance rack. It is like going to a yard sale!

these types of deep discounts are usually only at one store. They are not on the app or advertised because they have so few.

Like op said it’s like a yard sale. You’d have to get lucky, go everyday, and peruse each aisle.

Instead of asking DCUM, talk to someone who works at the store you usually shop at. If you're decent to them, many people will give you all kinds of tips/tricks for free, just because you acknowledged them as people instead of ignoring them as background characters in your story.

Ask if there's a deep discount day, or when restocks usually are, or explain that you're on a tight budget and have noticed super sales but always too late for you to utilize them.

They'll know more than we will.

I get a rain check if I’ve missed a good deal with nothing left on the shelves. Sometimes the product comes back, sometimes it doesn’t.

So if you clip the coupon on the app then scan your app at checkout you get the discount?

I just got the app and I clipped some coupons but wasn’t sure how this works.

I linked my card to the app and I scan my card at the store. Is that too old school? I had the card on my Keychain for a decade. Not sure if they still give them.
