Never a problem before now all of a sudden smells musty but I don’t see any leaks and or mold.
How much trouble am I in? |
| Has your heat been off and your AC not yet on? You need airflow. Run a fan or get a cross breeze going by opening windows. |
| Run a dehumidifier. |
| How old is your house, does it have 2000s code waterproofing |
| Op, there is no reason you should think you would be immune from the ordinary homeowner chore of running a dehumidifier. It's very ordinary. |
| I’m already running a dehumidifier 24/7, it’s at 55 and won’t go lower. |
It’s from the 1940s and no. |
| We had the same issue yesterday. Not cool enough for AC so there wasn't any dehumidifying action, plus we've had rain recently. 12 hours of running the dehumidifier and an air purifier and it smells normal. We forget that AC does more than just keep things cool, it pulls moisture out of the air too. |
| It’s just cool and humid right now. When humidity is high, everything in your house smells more. |
| Look around if there is water leaking by water heater, heating/cooling, pipes or under the carpet floor from concrete. |
|
if bigger, get a second dehumidifier. Make sure your filter on it is clean.
I bought a 2nd one, and it is amazing how much more water it pulls than our older one |
| Your sewer line may be blocked. Ours started to smell but when the washing machine wouldn't drain I had to call plumbers in and they figured out the problem. New sewer line and the smell is gone. |
| Do you have a cat? At a distance cat pee can smell musty. |
| So much rain recently... |
I looked but don’t see anything. I’d have to tear up the whole platform floor to check there. |
