SO ITCHY

Anonymous
I’m 19 weeks pregnant and as of last week, I have been so itchy over my whole body. It’s worse in the morning and night. My arms, legs, back, back of knees, boobs, etc. are just constantly crazy itchy. I randomly will get little red bumps on my arms too that itch but then the bumps go away. I have an OB appt next week so will obviously be bringing this up to my dr but in the meantime, was wondering if anyone else dealt with this? I’m lathering myself in lotion 2-3 times a day as initially I thought maybe just dry skin but the lotion does nothing.

Any chance you have cholestasis of pregnancy? Seems a bit early for that, bit I know someone who developed it during 2nd trimester.
Call your OB.

I had this. It was absolutely miserable. Not to freak you out but they found out later I had Lyme/ other tick borne infections that were presenting in a weird way because I was pregnant. Wasn’t caught for years. I’d just check that while you’re looking into other things, especially if you start getting achy joints ( mine were fingers).

They diagnosed me at the time with pruritis of pregnancy and didn’t do much from what I remember. They’ll make sure your gallbladder is ok as this can be a cause as well. I was really underwhelmed with treatment options at the time as that level of itching was insane. I hope yours settles down soon and it’s nothing serious. Keep that appt.

When is PUPPP normally diagnosed? I thought it was later in pregnancy but maybe you have it?

Op here; from what I read it’s normally 30+ weeks but as of this morning, I now have red rashes all over my back, back of thighs and chest and I’m itching like CRAZY.

Cholestasis of pregnancy? I had horrible itching from about 20 weeks. I was miserable. Blood test didn’t show cholestasis but doctor still suspected it.

For temporary relief, try Sarna.
