My IVF coordinator emailed me that the consent for PGT-A testing of embryos is signed during a genetics consult and that DH and I need a battery of genetic tests done and resulted prior to the consult. The results of these tests take 1 month. This feels like a big delay to me.
We have no flags in our history, only age, and I only want to know which embryos are chromosomally normal (euploid). I am not looking for any other info. We have no concern about specific diseases or mutations. Is this standard? Did you have to have any tests just to sign consent? |
| I chose to do genetic testing (blood test + genetic counseling) and pgt tested my embryos. These were both separate, optional tests to pursue. They said genetic testing can take about a month but results I believe came much faster. There was nothing really noteworthy with our genetic tests. I was with sgf |
| Yes we were required due to our loss history. No answers. I've had very few answers on this 3 year journey with 6 losses. |
| My husband and I had already done genetic testing prior to trying to conceive naturally. Our clinic requires genetic testing but allows you to sign a waiver stating that you’re satisfied with your current level of testing, if you’ve already done it. I think it’s pretty standard. |
+1 to all of this. |
| When I was with Dominion Fertility a few years ago, they didn't require me to do genetic testing prior to PGT-A. Not sure if that's changed. My new clinic, CCRM Nova, did require me to get genetic testing done, not sure if there were any waivers. |

Ok, interesting, thanks for the responses.
I was surprised that my clinic requires generic testing (extra time and $) before testing the embryos. I listen to a zillion podcasts and no one mentions this! |
