If my kid is thinking prelaw, and wants to major in history, would Michigan or Wisconsin be better? Michigan has amazing professional schools, like law, and they technically have a better history department (#2 vs #11). So is this a no-brainer? The complicated thing is Wisconsin is 10k cheaper and seems to have better historical prestige in general. Frederick Jackson Turner, William Cronon, and Michael Dreeben are all alumni. Would historical prestige mean anything for law school admissions? ( as in, admission officers recognize the brand more)
