ARE HIGH SCHOOLTEACHERS ALLOWED TO GIVE ASSIGN TEST, PROJECTS, HOMEWORK, and quizzes after SOLS?
DS Teacher is still teaching and doing graded work... He has a A- in that class, but might dropped because teacher is still giving them work to complete. |
| yes, the SOLs are unrelated to the academic year. There's a whole month of school left, what should they do, just sit there? |
| Yes of course they can. |
| Not only can Teachers give assignments and expect it to be completed, Teachers should be giving work to be completed. There is a month of school left. |
| What do you think they should do for the next month? Kids act insane at the end of the year and the best way to combat that is to make it feel like it’s not the end of the year. Most teachers use the last month of school to do fun projects. |
|
Yes. There’s a month left in the year! The state test doesn’t mean all the class work stops.

| Of course they’re allowed! In fact, I think it should be required…you don’t just waste a month of the school year. My HS kid has teachers giving major projects after AP exams and I’m ok with that too. Let them demonstrate knowledge of the material they learned this year. (The ones giving tests and projects DURING the AP window are another story). |
| Oh the horror! Learning is STILL going on!! |
| The SOL is not the final exam. There's a whole month of school left for things like tests, quizzes, homework, papers and actual final exams. Buckle up, OP. |
What kind of stupid question is this? Of course. The school year has not ended. |
| I’m more worried that the teachers just give up during the last 4 weeks. Not much learning is happening. There is no more homework coming home. The quit teaching LA. It stinks. They are wasting a half of quarter. They crammed and raced through material up until the SOL and now it’s fluff work with no homework. |
| The SOL is not a graded part of the class and tests minimum competency needed for graduation. Only a handful of students in my classes took it, the freshman or new students. Yes, we are still working. We are in the middle of a unit and still have grades. We will have class until the end. - HS teacher |
It's not daycare it's SCHOOL! |
| I don’t like it when a teacher has a quiz or a test on the same day as an SOL. We are seeing that now in middle school. I think that’s too much. |
+1! |
