Because some days when students aren’t in school teachers have professional development.

It’s a primary Election Day. All schools are closed. It’s right there on the MCPS calendar.

Frankly, the only reason I am not working tonight is because I don't have to teach tomorrow and can do lesson plans then, when we are "off."

The teachers here ain’t so smart to want a day off.

My old school voting took place at school while schools open. Pretty much with no parking only people working in schools and parents of students doing drop off and pick up could vote and they pass huge budgets and pay raises for teachers each year.

It's MD state law that public schools are closed for primary and general election days.

I love the idea of crowds of strangers on school grounds while my child is in class.

The decision to operate school during a primary election is made not by the teachers and not by the union but by the district. 14 Maryland districts are closed today.

For many races here, this is the main election.
