This is such a popular practice. We have been there for over 15 years… and our experience has mostly been good tbh. Two of our favorite doctors have left.
We have “let go” of little things here and there that would probably annoy most people but as I now reflect back maybe we have been too accepting. I won’t go into details right now about some of the experiences we have had that I’m now questioning whether it’s time to leave the practice. Wondering if anyone else is or has been on same boat and either left or is considering leaving the practice?? |
| I seriously considered following Dr S when she left, but her new practice is too far away. That’s honestly why we stay - the convenience, we’re less than 10 minutes away. We were with a different practice when my oldest was born and I’ll tell you this much - no place is perfect. |
| So what’s the best pediatric practice in the Gaithersburg/Rockville area? We are at potomac Pediatrics and are not happy. The pediatrician rushes the yearly checkup with lots of weird questions and they have a step yearly fee that covers things that are offered at other practices. Just tired of it. |
| Your kid is 15? Stay 3 more years and then shift them to an adult medicine practice. |
+1 If your youngest is 12 or older I wouldn't even consider switching absent something truly egregious. |

We followed Dr K when he opened this practice in its previous location and I am so sad our family is getting close to aging out (10 year span in kids so long time pediatric patients).
I am also a hip so I appreciate how much the landscape has changed in primary care but Dr K is the gold standard. He has seen us through serious illness, mental health concerns, new baby issues. There is no one better and when they added a pediatric mental health NP that was seriously the best thing for patients - esp with how hard mental health care is to access for kids and teens (and everyone). I was not a huge fan of either of the Dr S’s but I do like Dr M a lot as well. |
OP here. We have a 12 year old and a 4 year old.. so a way to go |
OP here. Have a third one, a preschooler... |
I guess they've worked out who you are now. |
| I have not been impressed with Dr U. I like the others. |

Dr K is like the gold standard for pediatrics. I like Dr M too and Dr U seems okay. I also really like the tech that has been there forever, and the woman that answers the phone is really helpful with scheduling and forms. The annual fee is irritating but I get the economics of pediatrics are bad now.
I had a bad experience with a NP but I think she left. |
Yeah, we haven’t been impressed with Dr. U not the new NP. Everyone else is fine. Could years ago we had a major issues with a nurse or NP? She isn’t there anymore, wonder if we are talking about the same person… |
| ^^ sorry for typos! |
| We’ve been going to this practice for about 20 years. Dr K is the best! He has helped with so many issues through the years and has always had the best bedside manner. Has called to check on my kids whenever they are beyond the typical sick. He has been truly amazing. I loved Dr S as well and DD was sad she left but since she was over 18 we just switched to an adult doctor. Only my DS is left and we only have a few years left, so we’ll stay. |
Have you tried Johns Hopkins Community Physicians in Rockville? I take my kids here, they are great and they are accepting new patients with availability next day, sometimes same day https://www.hopkinsmedicine.org/community-phy...rockville-pediatrics |
