Why don't middle schools enforce dressing out as a policy? I just applied here from a different state and was shocked in interviews to find out while there are locker rooms (why?), no one dresses into a PE uniform. They warned me kids don't take PE seriously in the interview. I mean....
If they can wear Crocs and outfits that don't support athletic activity, I can see why. What is the point of having locker rooms then? This is a very strange school district. |
| Well if you had asked in the interview, you wouldn't need to ask here, would you? Yes, and parents are snarky in this very strange school district. |
| It's 46 min, teachers are just trying to get the kids to be active for the most amount of time possible, some MSs take it more seriously than others. It's an uphill battle and you'll get no support for trying to enforce it much like cellphones in the classroom. Parents cry their kids get anxious changing, don't like being sweaty etc... |
| My kid is not allowed to wear crocs for PE, don’t know where you got that idea. |
Um, I'm asking because I didn't receive a concrete answer in the interview. I asked why and they just basically shrugged it off and moved to the next question. Thanks for the unnecessary snark. I think I'll definitely be looking at Frederick County. |
Got the idea from the interview itself. I asked, what if they aren't wearing proper footing? I saw many kids with Crocs in the halls and I made that my example. "Depends on the activity. For the most part, Crocs are acceptable." Stop assuming I didn't ask all the questions I'm still wondering about. |
Sounds like a private school parent poster talking about Crocs and being a strange district. |
DP-We had 46 minutes when I was in MS. We had to change out. It wasn't the end of the world and we still got plenty of time in. In HS, we had 50 minutes and not only did we change out, we were required to shower. It's entirely doable. |
| You can always apply somewhere else. |
Good. Lets get this strange district's schools less crowded. |
MCPS teacher here and...just hahaha, it's so amazing how the same people will sit here and bash MCPS and simultaneously defend it to death. Pick a side. No wonder no one wants to work in this district. All of my colleagues talk about leaving on a daily basis. It's mostly due to parents. I mean, look in the mirror when your kid has no teachers left. |
| Interview? MCPS doesn't do interviews. |
If teachers returned emails and worked with parents, it would help a lot. |
Maybe if parents raised their own kids instead of expecting schools to do the heavy lifting for them...that'd help a lot. |
You're not a teacher. "Strange district" used by that poster. ALL of MCPS families want to make schools overcrowded. That does not mean defending MCPS. |
