| She said they weren't good quality enough and she tried to sell me one of their frames. I got these glasses directly from Krewe. She said the lenses would not stay in properly. Is this a thing? I might try again at a different time and hope she's not on duty. |
| Of course it’s a thing. Most places won’t replace just lenses. |
| They will do some frames and not others. I regularly bring outside frames and usually they say yes but not always. |
| Try online. I did this in Bangladesh, and my lenses were $12, with transition sunglasses and blue light. I didn't need any adjustments because I picked a plastic frame that fit my face well. If you have frames you like, then go with an online company. It's a no-brainer. |
Where do you get it done if Costco won’t do it? Or do you just give up? I come from a different country originally where this is normal to do. |
| Super weird ask |
It’s perfectly normal. I’ve done this a couple of times at different places (not Costco). |
They may be too thick for the glasses you have. Take your prescription elsewhere if you don’t like their selection. |
That doesn't make any sense. The optometrist at Costco is separate from the frames/lense department. |
I just get different frames. |
They only do them in certain brands/frames. I've had them sent back from the lab and they said the lab refused to do it. |
| I had them replace the lenses in my frames at a Clarkson optometrist recently. |

I don’t think this is necessarily unusual if you are reusing current frames. That’s because they’re taking on a liability should your current frames, which may be brittle or damaged, break in process of fitting the new lenses.
I go to a Korean place I really like and they have a sign that says they’re not responsible if the old frames break. I trust them to look at my old frames and tell me if they think it can be done, but I accept the risks of proceeding. Some stores may not want to deal with it at all. |
|
Its a money grab.

k Ok let someone else put them in and when they break during the process, come back to tell us about it. Yes, this is a thing! |
