which Ivies remain ACT?SAT optional?
Harvard Columbia Princeton Cornell Penn ? |
Um, there are only 8 Ivies. It really shouldn't take much effort to look this up yourself. |
| Let me google that for you...Nope, never mind. |
I tried googling it and there's not a definitive response. If anyone who is not a sarcastic ass wipe can answer, I'd be grateful. |
One by one, check the admissions web pages for their testing status. Even experts who knew what the answer was last week know that things change. |
| I thought Harvard was going to back to tests required? |
The ones that remain "optional" in name are only truly optional for certain demographics (FGLI, underserved school, URM--yes they can tell by essay topics). None of these have been test optional for private schools and top publics /magnets /etc. This is per the heads of private school college counseling who have told parents and applicants the last two cycles that test scores are expected for ivy/ivy+ for unhooked applicants. Only 2021 applicants were treated as truly TO: the tide started to quietly change with 2022, and they gave examples of colleges contacting them to ask for the student to please send scores if available(Williams, Dartmouth and other schools did this to students we know from 2022). |
If you're going to peddle this tiresome grievance, don't forgot the athletes and donors' kids |
Harvard, Yale, Dartmouth are Required Cornell is Recommended but will be Required the following year The others are optional next cycle but that will not last. The more important question is why have your kid apply if they do not have the scores? Even if they get in without scores(unlikely), they will not do well and will end up bottom quarter. That could mean the end of top-law or med school dreams. |
True. Forgot those. I do not have grievance with TO being false--mine are at Ivy/+ , had the top scores and submitted. |
OP here. Thank you. My kid is in an under-performing inner city public HS in Los Angeles. |
NP. Colleges will know your schools testing averages, so if your kid's score is excellent compared to classmates but not in 50% of admitted, you may want to submit. I would probably submit 1450/33 and up from an underperforming school. Would have to look more carefully at details , though. Also, would your kid qualify for help from ScholarMatch? You can get free college counseling if low income bracket. Sorry there is so much snark here, btw. |
Thanks. We actually used Richard Montauk after seeing his name on here. He was useful up to a point. |
It really seems best to submit in your case, from what I’ve read. |
OP here. I didn't ask if my kid should submit scores or not. I asked which Ivy League colleges remained test optional. Also those figures you're responding to are not from me. I haven't posted his scores. |
