surgery to stop growth plate in leg due to leg length discrepancy

Has anyone's child had to have this surgery? If so, what was the recovery like?

I don't know about the surgery, but as someone with a leg length discrepancy that resulted in scoliosis, I would have jumped at the chance to have both legs the same length. I am now 49 and have chronic back and hip pain to the point where I am significantly affected in many basic activities. I would think the surgery and recovery would pale in comparison to the long term implications of not doing it, if that's also what you're considering.

where are you seeing a specialist for this?

If you have not already had an appt with Dr. Herzenberg at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore, I highly recommend you seeing him.

We see Dr. Herzenberg for other reasons and have traveled to Baltimore many times over the last few years. For us, it is well worth the trip.
