Auto Insurance for family with two drivers under age 20 + 3 cars

Anonymous
Our insurance with Erie is $4872 per year with four drivers in our household, including a 16 and 19 yo, and 3 cars, including a Tesla. Any recommendations on other insurance companies to call for a better deal?

That doesn’t sound too terrible for 3 cars as I have heard Teslas are expensive to insure. You can try USAA. Ours is a little under $3800 for 4 drivers but we also only have 2 cars. Another parent recently gave me a tip that you can save a lot on car insurance for a college student if you keep the car at home and let them know your child won’t be driving. That doesn’t currently work for us as our college kids have the car at school but I’m seriously considering it for next year to keep rates down.

It is a very small discount and kids have to go to college over 100 miles away to get it

If you consolidate different insurance products with one provider, you can get a decent discount. Also, what is your deductible? Raising the deductible can lower the cost.

We are at a little over $5,000 per year with USAA-- 4 drivers and 3 cars. One of the cars is a new car though. Can't wait to get these kids off my insurance. You can save money with USAA if you let them track you in an app. It seems like a fairly significant cost savings. We have not tried it, but, I think other insurance companies offer this too.
