I’m in FFX. I’m covered in bites. This is day 2. The bites resemble mosquito bites and they itch similarly. My forearm has about 7 bites and my stomach has about 20. Never saw a thing bite me. My husband doesn’t have a single bite.
It started Sunday during the night. I took a shower Monday morning scrubbing myself almost raw. I washed my sheets and my pajamas. I haven’t been outside other than to walk to my car. This morning there were fresh bites! They look brand new like they just happened. I’m going to sleep in the guest room tonight. What are these?!?! I started getting bit like this during the cicadas in 2021. I get bit for a few months and then they go away. I was pregnant then and had a hundred. I was so miserable. Oak mites? Chiggers? Is this happening to anyone else? My friends down the street also had bites in prior years. I’m going crazy both from the itch and the fact that I have no idea what is biting me. |

I once had what I thought was hundreds of mosquito bites (without actually recalling being bitten by anything.) In reality, it was Pityriasis rosea. Unbelievably horribly itchy.
Got diagnosed by a dermatologist, the solution was exposing the skin to sunlight, topical steroid, and valtrex (there is a theory that it's a reactivation of a form of the herpes virus). Good luck! |
| Is there a possibility of bed bugs? My daughter once brought them back from sleepaway camp and she would wake up with bites around her wrists/forearms and stomach. The bites are often grouped together. |
| From your description, I'm also wondering about bed bugs |
| My guess would be oak mites. I got them last time the cicadas hatched. It was miserable. I had dozens on my legs and had to sit on ice packs. I’d go to a derm to get it confirmed and also so they can give you something stronger than over the counter itch cream. |

I had horrible oak mite bites that Fall after the cicada summer. I thought oak mites followed cicadas because they fed on something related to cicadas (?) - if that’s true, isn’t it too early to have oak mites - no cicadas yet, at least in my region of DMV
When I had them they were more painful then mosquitoe bites and the welts took longer to go away. Sounds similar to what OP describes |
No i had oak mites in late spring/ early summer. This remember because I gave birth in august and was covered in bites the last few months of pregnancy. |
| Bed bugs. Anyone in your family travel recently? |
