Summer Practice for College Divers

Where do your kids practice while they're home for the summer? Some coaching would be nice. We used to dive under the old MDC but don't know any of the new coaches since the reorg.

Just FYI in case you were unaware, KSAC will be closed mid-June. Diving will be taking place at Germantown or the new Silver Spring facility.

When we were in this situation, the college coach contacted other college programs in the areas where their divers would be for the summer and arranged for them to join their training groups for the summer. I'm not sure if there are different regulations around this for different divisions, but depending on where you live it might be worth having your athlete reach out to coaches for local college dive teams. The dive world is small and my kid's coach seemed to be connected to coaches all over the place.

We've also had D3 divers from really small programs coach at our swim club and practice with the 13 & U kids. Obviously that depends on how your club runs its program and not needing anything beyond a 1m.

There are likely going to be capacity issues at Germantown. If MDC cannot accommodate ask if Tim has room at Alexandria (doesn’t have tower). Oak Marr (Dominion Dive’s home) has open dive well on Sundays.

Btw - new “MDC” so much nicer. Coaches are great. My kid loves all of them.
