It's not really a surprise. If you're pro-business, pro development, want DC to become a world class city, are against a bloated city govt that just gives out entitlement jobs you'd probably swallow and support Fenty as well.

I'm guessing Fenty is a win-win. Politically, he is to the right of Gray. And he is an incumbent in a city with many current issues, so he is easier to run against than someone who has not been in the hot seat.

Not that it will make much difference - since Republicans in DC are scarcer than hen's teeth.

There are 19,000 registered Republicans, and 20% of White DC residents voted for McCain. They walk amongst you, look left look right, far right, you might just spot them...you might...

It doesn't matter. The mayoral race will be won in the Democratic Primary. DC Republicans are irrelevant -- unless their endorsement affects Democratic votes.

Unless they change their registrations for the primary. This year DC has same day registration. Does anyone know if it would be possible to show up at a polling place, change your registration, vote, and then change your registration back?

Last day to change party is the 30th day before the election, which BOEE interprets as 8/16. Still a few days left, folks!
