May 4 digital sat?

Anonymous
Hey / curious how kids thought digital sat went this past weekend? Compared to the first digital sat in march, how kids are prepping for digital v paper?

DS said hard. I think if you are routed to the harder sections it is hard.

Kid in my DS's testing room projectile vomited during the exam. Sick kid was not removed from the classroom and continued to dry heave throughout the testing period. Windows in the classroom wouldn't open. You can imagine how bad it smelled. Janitor came in to clean. All of this happening while the testing clock continued to run. Feel bad for the sick kid (who should have been escorted out) and really bad for the kids in that room who had to continue to try to concentrate.

My daughter had a kid crunching through an entire bag of cough drops during her exam. Unwrapping them and chewing them one by one.
This was at SJC. The kid should have been told to stop.

But none of these are OP’s questions. Didn’t this happen with paper SATs too???

With the digital, the proctor has no control over the clock. The test shuts off. With the paper exam a proctor says "pencils down."

Wow. This was all very helpful and informative. Thanks!

OP here, OMG these stories about test conditions sound crazy. As far as test, looking at that reddit thread, it sounds like the digital math SAT is much more difficult than the old paper SAT?

My kid is very strong in math and Desmos. He got a perfect score on math on PSAT.

Not surprised he got the harder math module 2 but he said it was insanely hard - he wasn’t able to answer the final few free response questions, ran out of time.

Otherwise he felt good about the rest of the test

My kid took the first digital one in March. At that time he said the math seemed hard and he ran out of time. His scores kind of reflected that. He did very well on Verbal, but his math score was not what I expected. (He maxed out the math in the PSAT last fall).

So, I told him to take it one more time and that he would be done. He took it this past weekend (May). He said it was pretty much the same. So, I would surmise that he got the harder math section again and he likely saw some questions that he couldn't answer or finish.

My son told me he had to guess for three problems in the second math module because he didn't know how to answer the questions.

My son got a 760 on the paper test in math and a 680 in the digital.

I took the SAT (I am a tutor and I tutor lots of kids from DC, MD, and VA (private and public schools - remotely from Philadelphia.) The second math module was insanely hard as many of your kids have told you. I got an 800 on College Board's Digital Practice Test 5 and a 790 on Practice Test 6. I had to guess on about 3 towards the end too!!!
