| anyone ever gone in late Sept/early Oct? Is it warm enough to go in the water? |
| yes.....http://www.outer-banks.com/weather.asp |
| Thanks! What about the stores/restaurants? Just wondering if stuff just shuts down after Labor Day. |
|
Things usually slow down and shut down after owners weekend late September early October.
Staffing goes down to a min level so don't expect many people working in restaurants and stores. The weather is amazing then, wish the kids were still young so we could still go that time of year. Get an ocean front place seeing the rates are so low at that time of year and hope no hurricains show up but a good nor easter is nice |
| I would love to get those late Sept days at the beach back. Now that my kids are older - just not doable becasue of school. Go and enjoy. It is much more sleepy at that time - but depending on what town youre in - there will be places to eat out, etc. Blue Point in Duck (one of my favorities) is open year round. I envy you!! |
| Thanks! We usually go in August but dh just started a new job so we weren't able to go this summer. I need my beach time! Luckily, our kids are still in preschool so I don't feel too guilty taking them out for a week. |
| It is so cheap because of hurricanes - is it worth it? |
|
We usually go down in Oct - this year we are waiting until November. The water is coolish, there are some warm days and some cooler days. Probably not ideal for sunbathing. We never encountered any issues with hurricanes, but it is always a possibility.
I love it - less people, better selection of houses, it doesn't take 4 hours to cross the bridge. I can't imagine going in the summer |
