Infertility Support and Discussion
My doctor put me on Clomid because blood tests indicated that I hadn't ovulated that month. I took 50mg for three months and then increased the dose to 100mg last month. I got a positive result on the OPK but husband was out of town. I am about to start again this month but was wondering if it makes a difference to begin on day 3 instead of day 5? I have been starting on day 5 so should I continue to keep doing so? Thanks!
It definitely makes a difference what day you start clomid. One of my clomid cycles was a complete waste because the nurse mistakenly told me to start on day 3. My cycle was only 21 days long and we didn't have a chance to conceive. I also had terrible hot flashes waking me all night long, which I did not have when I took clomid on day 5. Please follow your RE's advice on when to take the first pill.
I think you have to go with what your doctor tells you. I always started mine on day 3 and still didn't ovulate until day 19. It effects everyone a little differently.
I've been yield to take it on day 3, as well as day 5 on other cycles. Think it just depends on your individual circumstances. Fwiw, I didn't notice too much of a difference in terms of when I ovulated.
