Has anyone been in it? What are your thoughts? Is the pool open to the public? My kids want to know why there is a playground there for younger children? What about the fields? Is it true it does not have a cafeteria? |
I don’t know ACPS, but many school districts have programs for teens with kids and also child development classes. Those specialized programs would require a playground for toddlers. |
It has a cafeteria, just not one that is able to cook hot food - so it is essentially just a place to eat food brought from home or prepared elsewhere.
|
There is no parking for students there until at least a year out, which is understandable but stinks for the kids who will be seniors.
The fields will be where the current old building is. |
I'm glad all the alexandria kids, the dc kids and the maryland kids all get to enjoy it. |
There may not be any seniors in the building. But we don’t know because ACHS and central office won’t decide what classes are going where next year. |
Should all grades benefit from the brand new building? That would be crummy to exclude the seniors. |
What are the bathrooms like? |
Still locked. |
Maybe pay attention to school board meetings and you would know all the answers to these questions. |
???? What about all the kids who depend on school for meals?? |
Less (allegedly) rapey than the old building's bathrooms? |
Let’s try using kind words. Do you think responding to someone who is showing an interest in the school system by criticizing them for not having previously been involved with the school system is a good way to respond? What could we do differently next time? |
Yes, the pool I will be to the public (I understand it has a separate entrance from the main school building). There will be fields for sports when the old building is razed. Makes sense to have a playground for public use too. Glad these new amenities will be available for all Alexandria’s to use and enjoy! |
At this point nobody is excluded, but also nobody is included, because the braintrust can’t figure out which classes and teachers are going where. Maybe they hope all the teachers either leaving the profession or moving to APS will make their decisions easier? |
