First menstrual period after pregnancy lasting weeks and weeks?

Has anyone experienced this? The nurse at my OB's office said first periods after pregnancy are "weird", but I've been having light bleeding since early July. It occasionally lessens, but then comes back the next day. It's not a lot, but it's getting annoying.
