catholic churches that operate more like baptist ones? do these exist?

Ok, let me clarify. I have friends, specifically in Baptist churches but maybe other denominations do this too, who have these "small groups" in their churches. It seems like a great way to get to know a small group of people and it's not just religious stuff - they do all kinds of social get togethers with each other. They pair up singles with singles, couples with couples, etc. Do any Catholic churches operate like this? It would be really nice to have a community to be part of, and I just feel like the Catholic churches around here (I live in S. Arlington) aren't really that way.

Lots of our friends in their younger days were part of a great community at St. Matthew's downtown, though it might have been largely targeted at singles. Our friends' parents are really involved in Cursillo which also emphasizes small groups, I think. If your parish doesn't have something, start something! Talk to your priest and see if there might be some existing resources within the diocese to get something going.

Blessed Sacrament in DC has a lot of opportunities like this. It is a very small community if you jump in.

What about Our Lady Queen of Peace in S. Arlington? I think they have a lot of small interest groups.
