Indian dimples

Anonymous
I have a shallow cheek dimple, DH has a shallow cheek dimple, DS has a shallow cheek dimple, DD has 3 dimples (1 lip corner deep dimple and 2 upper shallow cheek dimples (aka indian dimples). I just learn that they are called indian dimples after looking up why DD has 2 grooves on both upper cheek whenever she smiles big. Is indian dimples considered common or cute or ugly on girl faces?

In this rate, my grandkids are going to have dimples most likely. Is this genetic for dimples?

I have never heard that term.
Also pics would help (of examples, not your kids)

Dimples are hereditary

I've never heard them described like this. I'm European.

Dimples are usually charming, and yes, like other physical features they tend to be inheritable.

The real questions are: why is this bothering you? Can't you, just by yourself, judge whether your kids and grandkids are cute? Why the need to focus on girls, specifically? Are you one of those people who think women have a greater burden to be beautiful to get married?

So much wrong with your post...

I've never heard of this term before, but I've definitely seen people with them. Lots of examples on google for people who havent heard of them. Apparently the "rarest" type of dimple.

Seems really popular in asian culture, as many kpop idols have them and I saw some plastic surgery places offering it.

1. Consider using a different term; in general race based descriptives are considered offensive or stigmatizing

2. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder; some people will think dimples are cute, others will not

3. There’s literally nothing you can do to control this so I’d stop fussing about it I were you — dimples are genetic but that’s no guarantee everyone in a family will get them (my mother has two deep dimples, I have none, my daughter has two, and my son has one when he smiles)

Dimples mean you were poked in the face in a previous life.

I have shoulder dimples and never really noticed until my first dd had them. My second dd also has them, several cousins and I think my mother.

They are rare but since they aren’t on the face they go unnoticed.

West Indian or East Indian?

Dimples have nothing to do with ethnicity/ethnic origin, that name is terrible, please don't use it. Also, dimples are genetic and also who cares.
