Health and Medicine
A friend of mine from abroad just contacted me because her brother and his wife are flying to DC tomorrow from out of the country for fairly urgent and serious care (brain tumor) at Georgetown's Lombardi Treatment Center. They have made initial hotel reservations, but they are very expensive. Are there low cost options for patients and families to stay at? Any suggestions?
I would expect the center and/or hospital at large to have one or more social workers who could help them with this. That would be my next step, calling to find out.

This is on campus and might have better rates.

The Holiday Inn and the Savoy Suites, both on Wisconsin Avenue, might be a little cheaper. They are just north of Georgetown in Glover Park, which is still easily walkable to the hospital.

Contact International Services or Patient Advocacy at Georgetown University Hospital- they should be able to assist with hotel reservations.

OP here - Thanks so much for the suggestions. I called the International Services /Patient Advocacy at GUH and they were very helpful.
I've found that GUH staff members usually make a serious effort to be helpful. Best of luck to your friends, OP.
