13 & Older Swimming 50s

Anonymous
I noticed the NCAP Qualifier has 50 back, breast and fly for the 13 and older swimmers. Is there another meet where they would need a time in this? Don’t most meets that have 50s require you to have the 100 qualifying time? Just trying to understand how to prioritize there events over others.

As far as I know the meets that have the 50s in back/breast/fly for the 13 and overs all require the qualifying time in the 100 (NCAP Elite also requires that swimmers have a qualifying time in the 100 to swim the 50). So having a 50 time in those events isn’t going to matter in the grand scheme of things. The 50s would be good filler if say your kid only has cuts in 4-5 events, they can add the 50s to fill in their schedule.

They are for fun for the kids who already have the cuts they need/want.

It is to give them something fun in the meet.

MD state is the same, they have 50 as bonus for people who qualifies the 100 if they are not maxed out.
