Projected whitening means the projected gentrification. Are you upset they didn't use more PC wording to keep more people's feeling in tact? Did you get a feeling of exclusion? Did you feel it was unjust? Unequitable? Privileged? Or was it just ego? |
But in this case, projected whitening doesn't necessarily mean projected gentrification -- the schools in question all primarily serve neighborhoods that are not gentrifying, because they're already rich and mostly white. They're getting whiter (or "whitening") because more in-bounds students are crowding out out-of-bounds students, not because the neighborhoods are changing. |
I honestly don’t understand what you’re talking about. Do you? Is being white bad? It’s that why there are moves to mitigate it? |
No, it does not. Basing reality on this forum is a poor assumption. Again white is the absence of certain characteristics. A good example we all know is Obama, who is half white but continuously is called the first BLACK president, rather than partially Black. No one accepted him as white, because white is the absence of characteristics and he doesn't meet the criteria. |
can you point to any good high schools that draw from extremely poor populations? Good schools everywhere is another way of saying 'not my problem' from people who know that the biggest factor in whether or not a school is good is the level of education of the students' parents. |
That is a platitude, not a solution. It’s like saying “I want clean air”. |
What are the characteristics absent in white people? |
I’m not talking about reality; I’m talking about DCPS. |
DCPS *has* to find a way because it does have enough students with educated parents to go around. |
I think this topic went over your head because you have no need to think about it. Trying to attack my intelligence is a marker of non-understanding, defensiveness, and is rude. Another question I will ask is when has it been asserted that white is ever bad? Because you feel attacked now that racist videos have surfaced and people are caring? |
You tell me, what makes someone a white person? |
What’s your solution? |
can you tell me what makes someone a black person? |
good luck schools across the country have been trying for decades, have any succeeded? |
If we are talking about DCPS they mean black and non white hispanics, not asians. |
