That is the sad part about being teacher in this country overall. I grew up in Asia where teachers are highly respected and smart people. Here I told my kids not to expect too much from the teacher because they may not even understand the topic well enough themselves and my kids learned to appreciate that those teachers are nice and trying to teach the best they can.

Don’t take me wrong...both my parents are teachers and I respect all teachers wholeheartedly.

I went to an ivy league college. I have a masters and a PhD. I chose to teach and most of the time, I love it. I am really stunned that so many of you think we are idiots.

Oh well daughter argued with teachers on teacher’s errors in the classroom in the 6th grade and 8th grade. She felt disppointed back home and I was able to confirm from other kids that the teachers did make those mistakes and did not know what is wrong.

now she is 19tu grade and learned to stop and never argued

How can we do that? Northam greenlighted 1B. FCPS where I live is literally vaccinating teachers starting on the 16th via INOVA. Not being a trained to put shots into people's arms, I don't think there's anything I can do.

I am scheduled for the 18th.
The earliest my second dose could be is Feb 8th.
I will be fully protected on Feb 22.

The biggest shame is the nurses and doctors that are getting covid between their first and second dose. Let’s hold on a little longer.

Is there enough vaccine for every teacher? We can absolutely wait until March for full protection so we don't fall back into distance learning.

If teachers are the essential workers that you say they are than they didn't jump the line! I don't think any schools in this area will be able to open 5 days a week because of social distancing for the students. It's not only about the teachers...

Once teachers vaccinated I would think they would support return to school full time so as not to have to teach concurrent.
That said Idk when the powers that he will think numbers are low enough that kids don’t have to socially distance.
