I found this book boring as hell. Nothing ever happens. Even Tom Hanks couldn't save it for me.

Same. I’m baffled by the glowing reviews of this book.

This is on my list!

I have been reading this off and on for almost a year. It is excellent but LONG and now I am filled with Grant and Reconstruction facts. There are a lot of parallels between the 1870s-1880s and now.

I'm staring at it next to me not touched. This might inspire me to read it finally.

“A brief history of seven killings by marlon James”

Thank you! This was brilliant, imo, and should stand the test of time. Much more so than many books listed here.

I did not like All the Light You Cannot See! I am clearly in the minority here. My top few are:

Sense of an Ending
Mother Sunday (Graham Swift)
Normal People
Room

Realizing now that they are all by British or Irish authors.

It was pure schmaltz. This is why it's helpful for people to list 5-6 books, if they love-love-loved a book that did nothing for me I can skip the rest.

It was good, but definitely not great. Not “best book in past 10 years” material unless you don’t read a lot.

I see we have many intellectuals on this board. "Last Mrs Parrish" as the best book of the decade. 🙄
