Exactly. No on cares what you (general you) think of their list. If they did they would ask.

This list is crazy. Have you accepted LAMB?

Not yet but going to visit this week. We're in a private preschool now and are happy there, but were hoping to get in somewhere with a path through middle school or close to our current home. We figured she wouldn't get in anywhere and we'd stay where we are. We got lucky with LAMB but want to see what happens.

Did they give you a campus? SD, MO?

No, but I was so shocked to get a call that I didn't even ask! The email didn't provide a location either.

Wow, you are super lucky because your list has no safeties at all. Except I don't know much about your IB.

And this is another "throw spaghetti at the wall and see if it sticks" situation. In other words- you just looked at the most desirable schools on here without a plan. Good go you that you got lucky, but your smug attitude of "let's see what happens" is pretty sh*tty.

How is staying in private PreK until K when you are guaranteed a slot at Maury not a plan?

Maury is a great IB. There's no middle school feed, so that's the issue. But for ES? I can't imagine many on this board who wouldn't be happy with it.

It is a great list for someone who lives IB for a good school, is fine with another year or two of private preschool, and is willing to move to be closer to anywhere they get in. That isn't reflective of most people playing the lottery, but that's what's nice about the lottery--people can pick what makes sense to them.

Except if you're fine with a couple years more of private preschool, you had better be ok with your IB after that. Because charter spots are mainly gone by then.

Swami seems to have wandered off and many lists remain un-Swamied.

That's because this thread is full of petty A.F. b*tches and Swami is tired our *sses. (I assume. I have no telepathic communication with Swami.) Hope she's off enjoying a latte and fancy chocolate egg somewhere.

If you want her back, BEHAVE!

Are you crazy? Swami is fun but it's just someone with a bit of knowledge making predictions. Chill the f out. And if someone is posting their list on here, EXPECT JUDGMENT (especially if it makes zero sense).

This post makes no sense. PPs list seems pretty normal to me. It’s similar to how mine was and our kids ended up at a school we love.

Then you were lucky.

Nah. Spaghetti at the wall PP is just angry and jealous and lashing out.

LOL. I got my number one pick every time I played the lottery. THAT is a smug attitude.

I don't understand people who have a list of schools all over the place. Spanish immersion. Montessori. Expeditionary learning. Reggio. It feels so random to me.

Mine is like that. But really, I am searching for a sufficiently well-administered school within a reasonable drive, ideally with middle school included. If you use that criteria from Bloomingdale, that's the kind of list that appears if you want to use all 12 spots. Is that really so crazy?

I agree with 14:03. Seems way more common than people who specifically care about a specialty (other than immersion).

This. Or people may care a lot about a specialty, but there is nothing to lose by listing more schools. Because what happens if you don't get a seat at the specialty you care so much about? The "random" lists are the result of people seeking a good school that is feasible given their home, work, and family locations. I picked one school bc it is close to my mom's house, for example, even though it is far. May seem random to you, but makes sense to me.

It's because specialty or no specialty, the kid still has to go somewhere. An EOTO IB may be fine through 1st or 2nd, but then what? Best to get in somewhere adequate as soon as possible, then try for higher choices from there.
